T.I.P.S. Investigation Log
Filed by: Brooke/Lead Investigator
Date: October 28, 2025
Location: Ridgelawn Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio
Case No.: #TIPS-042 — The Whisper Path Phenomenon
Background
Ridgelawn Cemetery sits quietly along Columbus Street in Elyria, Ohio. It’s the kind of place you pass every day and barely notice. However, locals have whispered about a haunted section at the back of the grounds known as The Whisper Path for decades.

The legend tells of a teenager named Eleanor Hask who vanished from Ridgelawn Cemetery in 1899. She was visiting her father’s grave (Henry Hask) during a thunderstorm. Her umbrella was found tangled in the iron fence, and her father’s tombstone was discovered shattered in half the next morning. No one ever found her body.
Witnesses claim that if you walk the western trail at night and whisper her name, she whispers yours back.
Investigation Summary
Team Members Present:
Brooke (Junior, Lead Investigator)
Jesse (Freshman, Tech & Audio)
Skylar (Sophomore, Historian/Research)
Titan (Senior, Bodyguard)
Time: 11:42 p.m. – 1:13 a.m.
Weather: Clear, 42°F, no wind
Equipment: EVP recorder, IR flashlight, EMF reader, and one very nervous team bodyguard (Titan).

Entry Log
11:52 p.m. – Entered Ridgelawn Cemetery through the east gate. Immediately, we noted the silence. There were no crickets, no wind, and no ambient city noise. At 12:01 a.m., a police patrol passed by with lights off, rolling slowly. They didn’t stop.
12:10 a.m. – Approached the western path. The temperature dropped from 42°F to 36°F in under a minute. The EMF meter began spiking erratically. Jesse thought it was faulty batteries, but it wasn’t.
12:16 a.m. – Whisper test. Brooke whispered, “Eleanor Hask.” For about ten seconds, nothing happened. Then, clear as day, a girl’s voice whispered, “Don’t forget me.” The recorder caught it. Playback confirmed the voice was between our own speaking frequencies.
12:23 a.m. – Skylar found the broken gravestone. Part of the name “HENRY HA—” was still visible, while the rest was worn away. A faint scent of roses lingered by the gravestone.
12:31 a.m. – Second EVP session. Background audio captured what sounded like footsteps circling us. The recorder picked up a low hum — three notes repeating, almost like a lullaby with a girl’s faint voice.
12:38 a.m. – Titan reported feeling someone tugging the back of his hoodie. No one was behind him.
12:40 a.m. – We made an immediate retreat to the vehicle. The team unanimously decided to end the session after the flashlight failed twice in a row.
Historical Notes (Skylar’s Research)
Eleanor Hask, age 16, vanished on September 14, 1899.
Her mother, Emma Hask, died in 1901. Her obituary mentioned “grief-induced illness” and she was buried beside her husband, Henry Hask. (Emma Hask’s gravestone was confirmed by Brooke.)
Cemetery caretaker records from 1902 describe a “persistent female voice” heard near the western path after rainfall. Funeral logs list Eleanor’s grave as “unconfirmed burial.”
Evidence Collected
Team Conclusion
Ridgelawn Cemetery’s Whisper Path shows consistent signs of Class B EVP activity, environmental fluctuation, and residual emotional energy. We believe the phenomenon may be connected to the unfinished burial of Eleanor Hask. This could be a case of anchored spiritual memory rather than an intelligent haunting.
When the wind is still and the moon hits the west trail just right, you can almost hear her — a whisper that’s barely audible, but enough to make you listen.
Final Note
T.I.P.S. will be returning in December for a cold-weather follow-up session — provided the team can convince Titan to go back.
Until next time, stay curious, stay brave, and remember: some echoes in Elyria never fade.
